Pediatric Drug Interactions with Chlorpheniramine

• Avoid with MAOIs—risk of severe hypertensive and anticholinergic reactions.
• Additive sedation with opioids, benzodiazepines, or alcohol—counsel families on impaired alertness.
• Other anticholinergic drugs (TCAs, antipsychotics) increase urinary retention and constipation risk.
• Combination cough/cold products already include sympathomimetics—avoid duplicating decongestants.
