Contraindications

Use With Caution

• History of non‑severe, non‑IgE reactions to penicillins (e.g., delayed rash) — consider allergy evaluation and risk–benefit.
• Significant renal impairment — may require dose adjustment and clinical monitoring.
• Infectious mononucleosis with concern for ampicillin‑class rash history — clarify prior reactions (not a true allergy but may confuse assessment).

Pregnancy & Lactation

Penicillin VK is generally considered safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding. As always, decisions should be individualized with a healthcare provider.
