Worked example
Convert a checked-safe 240 mg order to mL
A practice problem gives a checked-safe order for 240 mg by mouth. The oral liquid label says 400 mg / 5 mL.
- Convert the label: 400 mg divided by 5 mL = 80 mg/mL.
- Convert the order: 240 mg divided by 80 mg/mL = 3 mL.
- Write the result with the unit: 3 mL for this classroom exercise.
- Final check: the dose was checked first, the concentration was read from the label, and the answer has units.
